Savages - “Flying To Berlin”

Seeing a band live before they record any material has been the finest perk of living in NYC for me. In turn, I place a lot of weight on live shows when it comes to sizing up a band. Sure, any band can make music and make it sound better. But, that can all go to shit when their live performance is a lackluster.

Enter Savages, a London post-punk band that I was lucky enough to catch their live US debut. Their bass lines maintain the dark tone while Jehnny Beth’s vocals pushes the music into the holy-shit-I’m-feeling-this realm. Other than that, this band needs no further intro since playing the first track will help you understand immediately why you need to stay tuned in to them. I grabbed their 7” live recording and it kills. I highly advise you to follow suit.
